Only 12 Barrels Made Frane has always wanted to blend these two varietals—never a big Syrah fan on its own—knowing its statistical limitations, it seems to get all it needs from the acid tannins of a well balanced, more Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon. This is why Brentwood’s warmer climate Field of Dreams Syrah was blended with as much as 50% of Christopher Creek’s Dry Creek Cab. Dusty cocoa, cardamom, black pepper and good old-fashioned tannins round out the palate. Structurally a very sound blend: a wine that’ll convert you, make you a believer again in the power of simple pleasures. Cabeth to the Syrayeth! Advice: Enjoy quilt-free pleasure and enjoy now but if you can stand it, go ahead and age a few for awhile.
